These horses could not have had more different starts to life.  The grey one is named Pistol.  He comes from a desired bloodline in Canada and you can trace his lineage back for generations.  He is a goofball and made me laugh several times during our short visit!  The sorrel horse is named Sky.  You may have noticed her beautiful heritage mark on her neck.  She was a wild mustang captured in Warm Springs Oregon.  There is no birth certificate for her and only speculation as to who her mother is.  I recognized her beautiful heart right away and learned she has a special fondness for cows :) But guess what?  After all that and their differences these horses ended up here.  They ended up in Cle Elum Washington together with each other and a family who adore them!  No matter what their future adventures entail they will forever be capsuled in this moment right here.  Pistol and Sky, together you are a shooting star and I marvel at your beauty, specialness and your bond. After I was partway through this painting this one I had a request.  I wanted to meet these horses.  It was a dream when I pulled up to the house with the final painting and saw them right there.  I have missed being around horses!  I miss their feel, the nuzzles, their smell!  I was offered to come back and ride them one day and you can bet I would be chomping at the bit to do that.  Thank you Jenny for the opportunity to paint these beautiful gentle sweethearts, it was a privelage!

Take a walk with me, but don’t say anything.  Away from the sounds of the cars and the people and the buzz of electricity.  Into a forest where you won’t get lost but rather find something you were looking for.  I was looking for a place to escape.  A place where there were no obligations or time frames or worries.  I needed to take a step back, to look up and see where I was and where I was going rather than just focus on the ground I was stepping on.  I knew I needed a forest and I knew it needed sunrays.  Sunrays to me make me feel in awe of beauty.  Nothing calms me down faster than the beauty of nature.  It reminds me of priorities, of love and sacrifice, and goals of contentment.  Take a step back with me and stop looking at the ground.  Look UP and soak in the feeling that that gives you.

When I was 15 I got the chickenpox, and I got them bad. They were everywhere and they left scars I still see everyday on my face and shoulders.  During those two weeks I remember three good things vividly. My mom bought me my favorite ice cream from Baskin Robbins, my friend Rachel delivered to me some homemade herbed braided bread, and I was introduced to Anne of Green Gables. I do not remember if the book or the 1985 series with Megan Follows came first but it doesn’t matter to me.  More visible than the scars on my face is the impression this story had on me.  I related to Anne’s distracted imagination and her big feelings.  The ability to be boundlessly happy and later in the depths of despair. I related to her trying to hide her feelings but not being able to. And I absolutely became a helpless romantic, longing for my own love story one day and hoping I wouldn’t push it away as she did.  More than any of these things, I fell in love with the idea of Prince Edward Island. The way the Author described this place made me long to be there, and to live in a place with wide open spaces and fields filled with tall grass and glowy evenings.  I never knew if I’d be able to go or if it would live up to what I had in my mind.  It did.  It was everything I had hoped it would be and I got to go there with the love of my life.  It’s a day I will always remember and so this painting will serve as the feeling memory for me.  The feeling that a dream come true.  A feeling so big it didn’t fit inside of me, and I had to twirl.
  • Snoqualmie Falls is a 268 foot waterfall near where I live.  The power of the water is felt every time you look at it and the Salish Lodge has a front row view of its beauty.  You can't help but be in awe of this beautiful place.  The original painting was painted using student grade paper and paint and although I see every flaw I am grateful that it reignited my passion for painting again.  I am so pleased to make this print available to you.  This piece was a turning point in my art journey.  You see I had stopped painting for several years prior to painting this.  During the early days of Covid I was asked to take part in a variety (talent) show via zoom and decided to to a timelapse painting.  This was the seen result of that event.  The unseen result was the fire that was lit inside me again.  My passion for painting was all of a sudden there again.  Because of this event and this painting are all the others that you seen shown on this website.  I am so pleased to share this limited addition print with you all, and I am so pleased you want to be a part of my journey.
  • Alpine – Print

    Price range: $44.00 through $55.00
I call this one Alpine, but it really should be called Picturesque.  This is Picture Lake which shows off the amazing Mt. Shuksan that sits behind it. This spot is a photographers dream no matter what time of year it is.  Sitting just below Canada and right by Mount Baker it is everything the PNW is known for: Mountains, Trees, and Water. I painted this and thought of my dad a lot.  Something about the scene and the colors I used just felt like him.  He used to be an avid hiker and mountain climber.  It wasn't my intent but it reminded me of an old painting he had in his office while I was growing up.  I sent him the video of this painting and he immediately knew the location.  In fact he has pictures from this exact spot and said he used to hike the trails and ski that area all the time when he was younger.  My dad now owns the original and I couldn't imagine a better hands for it to be in.  However, for 99 special people, you can have your very own copy of this very special print.
  • Hannah’s Hallelujah – Grief – PRINT

    Price range: $24.00 through $33.00
Guilt, anger, bitterness, brokenness, shame, yes.  But mostly sadness.  The crying, the constant crying.  Usually on my way to or from somewhere.  Usually alone in my car on my way to work, everyday, for years.  Some days I'd be rounding the corner for home and I'd need to drive up to the trailhead above our house just for five more minutes to pull myself together.  My brain would be shouting "Just get over it!" and my heart would quietly respond "I can't." The best quote I've heard to describe grief is this: Grief is just Love with nowhere to go.  I was never able to think past this until I painted this picture.  However now I see great beauty in grief.  You see grief would not exist without love.  The more you loved, the more you grieve.  And love is such a beautiful thing. I share this for the women who go through this or something else entirely their own.  The women functioning, going on, showing up, doing what you need to do and yet crying all the time when no one is looking.  I see you and I'm sorry and I'm so proud of you.
  • Hannah’s Hallelujah – Empty Arms – PRINT

    Price range: $24.00 through $33.00
So this is where I am today.  Feeling exposed, vulnerable, arms empty.  I stand as a woman wanting to be a mama, but can't.  If I were to name this painting it would be called Empty Arms.  Wanting something like this so much feels like a nutrient you need but cannot eat, like you're cold but cannot warm up.  Winter.  Your everyday looks different, from the moment you wake up to the time you crawl into bed at night, it's not what you thought it would look like.  Your whole future has now changed.  The fact that this grief is so hard to let go of is because there really is no end.  There is no end, just a slow drip of a dream until one day you decide it's gone.  You need to decide when to let go and you don't want to... Having now accepted this I am in a better place.  I can feel happy without sad tears falling and I feel incredible grateful to be here.  But my arms are still empty, and sometimes they feel heavy so I'll let them fall as colors onto my paper. I will not be sharing the his faults, my faults, losses, have you trieds, why not justs, as least you's...no.  This series is to give you a little background so when I paint scenes of children running around carefree or mothers and babies you know where it's coming from.  It's coming from a happy place that I'm making for myself to go.  To create moments and pretend they're from memory.
  • Hannah’s Hallelujah – Assured Expectations – PRINT

    Price range: $24.00 through $33.00
So let me introduce you to a woman named Hannah. If you aren’t familiar with her story she lived many many years ago. She too was unable to have children. She too had a husband that loved her very much but didn’t quite understand why she was upset all the time. I can relate to her feelings, her bitter upset and feeling like she was isolated in her sorrow. This is where our stories veer. You see Hannah’s husband had another wife and he had children with her. Not only was this second wife unkind to her, but Hannah saw children running around playing, and when she looked at them, she saw her husbands eyes. That’s where my heart goes. For years she saw this and for years she was reminded of what she didn’t have. Yes Hannah would have liked to have many children, but even just one would have been enough for her and she aches and sobbed and prayed for that one chance. Here, this painting is how I see her first chance. It was finally her turn. Soaking in every moment and feeling that deep sigh of relief that all the grief and waiting was worth it.
  • Hannah’s Hallelujah – Longed For – PRINT

    Price range: $24.00 through $33.00
How do you feel when you finally get something you have waited a long time for? Especially if it’s something you have gone through a lot to get and maybe waited longer than you expected? Here I show Hannah with her first son, Samuel. She is soaking up that baby smell, feeling his heartbeat against hers and hearing those little grunts that make us all turn our heads and smile. What is it about a new baby? And what is it about the way a mother holds them that is different? I’ll be honest, more difficult than seeing a pregnant woman was a mother holding her new baby. This taunted my heart because there seems to be no greater bond of love. I’ve heard people say “I didn’t know I could love another human this much” and that is what I feel when I see this. A love so great, so fiercely protective and yet incredibly gentle. Hannah was able to have more children after Samuel and, although there is only one first, I have a feeling that she held each of them as if they were her first or her last. And I have no doubt that in the back of her mind was the pain and grief she endured. But as hard as that was, moments like this made it all worth it. Made it worth the wait.

Where are you from?  Where do you live?  Where is home for you?  That last question is different from the first two.  We often stay somewhere because of work, family ties, or practicality. But without that, where would home be for you?  With so many places in the world and personalities among people I imagine it’s different for everyone.  Let me know where you think home is for you, and why. This painting is home for one couple.  San Juan Island, Washington.  This painting was a gift from a couples grown children, for their 33rd anniversary.  A gift that celebrates the waves of time and where both have taken them. Time well spent and dreams realized. The husband is a 5th generation islander and his wife says she’ll never leave.   I love that this painting celebrates the passing of time, the love that has kept them afloat, and the waves that brought them back to this island.  Such a perfect representation of a life together in a place that is home.
  • Some places just hold a special place in our hearts. Some people also hold a special place in our hearts. Especially those friends you’ve known for a long time. The ones that when you’re together again it’s as if no time has passed. The ones who love your children as their own. Who accept you exactly as you are, done up or undone. This was a commission for my neighbor for just those types of friends. And how do you celebrate friends who hold this special place? With their special place. They have special memories at this amazing scene on an evening just like this one. I feel so privileged to create this scene for them in a way that celebrates the friendship between them and remind them of an evening worth remembering. For those of you wondering, this is Delicate Arch found at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah, USA. An incredible, almost otherworldly type of place with an atmosphere of awe.
  • First Steps – Print

    Price range: $24.00 through $33.00
A baby's first steps are one of the most anticipated milestones a parent can imagine.  I moment of pride and excitement, and maybe even a little trepidation.  They want to be there to witness this moment and clap and hug their baby, to experience this with them.  And yet, the meaning of this painting is even more than that because a baby has many first steps.  Their first steps on sand for example.  The first time they step into the cold ocean or onto the soft but prickly grass.  The first time they walk with shoes or the first time stepping down a stair. I saw a friend with their precious son experience the warm sand and ocean of Hawaii together.  What a sweet, tender and yet exciting moment for both of them.  A mothers protective grasp while allowing her little son to experience his first steps with her by his side.
