Room To Roam
I was in a slump. I was tired and burnt out and hadn’t painted anything, anything, in over a month. “Paint something” my husband said. I went to my studio, unwrapped a panel, and got out my phone to look for a reference photo. Today, I was searching for space. Something that felt roomy and uncramped. I did not want to feel closed in. This warm and calming reference photo was what drew me in, and without overthinking anything I simply started laying paint on the surface. As it glided along with ample water and smooth brushstrokes, I felt my hands lead my head into a calmer space. A place where no sound can be heard except for the gentle strums of my husband’s guitar and the grass beneath my feet.
