Walking into a forest I feel a great sense of calm and wonder.  Like I’m walking into someone else’s world, and yet they’re welcoming me.  A world full of wisdom and lessons learned.  One lesson I always feel strongly is that of time.  A forest is full of evidence that time is a real thing.  You see tall old trees.  Ones that have seen a lifetime come and go and yet they’re still standing.  You see a young sapling that’s just made it through it’s first winter.  So little and yet already reaching for the sky.  And then you see the plants that come and go, and come back again, like the trillium for example.  Each year is new and yet each year is a repeat.  These things, while combined, made me think of life and time and how intertwined they are.  We need the old, the new, and the repetitive.  When brought together they beckon to be appreciated.
